B&B Exhaust 4/23/01

I ordered my cat back exhaust and put it on the first day it came in. I was surprised how hard it was to get the old exhaust off. We cut the old system at the curve next to the muffler and dropped the rear section out. We then managed to twist the other section out from over the differential. The B&B unit comes in 5 pieces. A step up pipe that hooks to the stock Y-pipe about 2' in length to the main piping that connects to the muffler & two tips. In my case the step up pipe was about 1 1/2" too short. It left my exhaust sitting a little sideways. I am planning to buy an aftermarket Y-pipe and I will have the entire system welded after that. I had a muffler shop take a look and it should only cost about $50.00. I was a little disappointed at it not fitting perfectly for the price but I have heard similar stories from a few other people. Once I cranked it up and heard the sound I was OK with the minor set back. The sound is great with no "droning" at a cruising speed and not too loud to enjoy driving your car.
Update 6/8/01
Got the whole system welded together for $25.00. Muffler Masters in Macon straightened it out and made me a happy camper. It may not have been crooked enough for anyone to notice but it bothered me. I feel better now.
